Welcome

NPO Japanordic is a non-profit organization that aims to increase cultural understanding between Japan and the Nordic countries. Established on 14th February 2011, and dissolved in 2018. Now also you can find our project information on our sister organization; Forening Japanordic’s website.

In 2017 Japan and Denmark were celebrating the 150 years anniversary of diplomatic friendship. For our organization this is an occasion to increase and promote the cultural understanding between the two countries by realizing a unique musical performance. During 2017 the young Japanese composer Aya Yoshida has been working intensively on creating a chamber opera inspired by the story ”Skyggen(The Shadow)” by the Danish national poet Hans Christian Andersen. “Skyggen – A Chamber Opera by Aya Yoshida” was premiered in the old Chapel of Assistens Kirkegård on the 16th of November 2017. And Aya Yoshida was awarded by Danish Arts Foundation for The best 10 music publishing/releasing of 2017 with this performance.

Please read more about our project: “Skyggen -A Chamber Opera by Aya Yoshida”. In Danish or Japanese/日本語.
